Hi. My name’s Mark Hamilton. I’m happily retired after a lot of years in journalism and I live on the West Coast of Canada.
This blog existed for a long time as a way of connecting with my students and other media folk to talk about issues related to journalism. A couple of years ago, it was hacked and I never got around to “unhacking” it. I’m relaunching it now as a home for a couple of my interests: Music and photography.
For the past couple of months, I’ve been publishing a Rebetiko Song of the Day on Facebook, but Facebook isn’t really well suited to that sort of thing. So, I’m moving that here and, over the next little while, I’l have all the content from the Facebook series published here. I’ll also use this site for other music-related items, which may include my own musical adventures. (To see the full Rebetiko of the Day posts, click on the link under the Categories heading in the right-hand menu. As of today – December 9, 2024 – I’ve uploaded almost all of the entries, in the order that they were published on Facebook. I’ve also added some information to some of the earlier posts, which were a little too brief.)
This will also be a site for some of my photography. I haven’t quite decided how I’ll do that yet, but it’ll come.
